An exciting and challenging opportunity awaits an enthusiastic and results orientated Manager to join the Council in the position of Works Manager.

Council is seeking a proven “hands on” Manager.  The Works Manager is responsible to the Director of Engineering and Regulatory Services for the development and implementation of the Council’s works program. This role will provide leadership and support to the technical and other staff within the Works Department to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of projects and services.

Desired applicants will possess the following skills and qualifications, or be willing to obtain:

  • Minimum qualifications in Advanced Diploma in Civil Construction with demonstrated experience in road construction and contract management;
  • Excellent people and performance management skills;
  • Strong operational leadership across multiple disciplines, with sound communication and creative problem solving skills;

McKinlay Shire Council has an exciting opportunity available for a full-time Community Services Team Leader to join their Community Services team based in Julia Creek.

The role will ensure the efficient and effective delivery of Community Services as identified in Council’s Corporate Plan. The Community Services Team Leader will be responsible for the supervision of various staff and will be required to provide support to various community organisations to assist in achieving their goals.

Desired applicants will possess the following skills and qualifications, or be willing to obtain:

  • Experience in working in the  area of Community Services for either Local, State or Federal Government;
  • Experience working with local community groups and volunteer organisations
  • Experience with submissions, grant applications and reporting to Government departments
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise staff and provide support
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a budget

Location: McKinlay

Council is seeking a motivated and reliable Librarian/Tourism Officer to operate the McKinlay Library and McKinlay Centenary Museum.

The position will be based in the township of McKinlay. Hours of work will be four hours per week from October to March and 20 hours per week April to September.

The suitable applicant will be enthusiastic, have good organisational and communication skills and the ability to work unsupervised.

The selection panel is seeking an individual who has a sound knowledge, or is willing to develop an understanding of the McKinlay Shire and its history. Position open.
